SFU Walk

16/04/2012

Trans Canada Trail  & Cardiac Hill

I was early for a friend's Masters defense at SFU and I was anxious to try out my new camera.
So I found a trail marked "TransCanada Trail" and thought it would be a nice leisurely walk and the perfect opportunity to take some beautiful photos of Indian Arm.
However, I neglected to check how it would link back up to the university.
So after about 40 minutes and several chapters of my new audiobook, I was worried I was not going to make it back in time for my friend's exciting presentation.
Thanks to the trusty iPhone, I found my location and there seemed to be a small trail linking back up to the road not far ahead. So I was relieved when I arrived. But as I turned the corner, a post read "Cardiac Hill" and the steep angle of the slope suggested I was in for a serious hike!
I had no other choice but to start climbing in my dressy black boots. Needless to say I did not take any photos in that portion of my wellness walk as I was focused on making it up the hill alive. I did feel very pretty great, when I finally reached the top.

Cardiac Hill - "As the name suggests, this is not for the faint of heart. An advanced trail, the entrance is located on the northeast side of the campus near the upper bus loop. It is a straight up and down adventure, not unlike an SFU version of the Grouse Grind! This trail links up with the Trans Canada trail where you can enjoy a less intense walk back."
